Why is Premier joining Radio Systems Corp?
For several years Premier has been working hard to develop our own full line of spray products, along with several other training products. We believe some of these could completely replace shock products, and others are entirely new positive-reward based solutions. Our expertise has centered on a solid understanding of training and behavior principles, but we had no prior experience in high-tech product development. Premier has spent a lot of time and money trying to bring these products to market, but without success. In contrast, RSC is clearly the pet industry leader in electronic technology, with over 40 full-time engineers in the US and China. They have state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities and produce high quality, high-tech reliable products.
Why is RSC acquiring Premier?
RSC believes that together Premier and RSC can better create new products, as well as grow the markets for existing ones. The two companies have taken very different paths in terms of training philosophy and market penetration. RSC believes that any time you join two divergent approaches, great things can happen. With open minds, there will be the expertise to create new product categories for the benefit of pets and their owners.
Why are the companies joining now?
RSC has been interested and impressed with Premier for many years. A dialog between the two companies began last year when RSC purchased Multi-Vet and heard that Premier was having problems with the spray anti-bark collar. While helping Premier work through the spray issues, RSC got to know Premier’s management team and learned more about the dynamics of the company. Further discussion followed, and the owners of both companies determined that the timing was right.
What are the opportunities going forward?
This alliance will allow significant advances in bringing high-tech, positive-reward based products to market. In the coming years you can expect to see new and exciting positive training electronic products that have never before been available. As time goes on we hope to achieve some economies of scale and other operational efficiencies that should result in us staying competitive in all product lines.
What will be the name and structure of the combined company?
Premier Pet Products will retain its separate name and identity, and will operate as an independent, wholly owned division of RSC. Sharon Madere is retaining her ownership stake in the combined entity and will remain as Premier’s President. The management team and associates of Premier will continue to operate and serve customers as before.
What happens to Premier Product Brand names?
They will continue as they are now.
How does this change ordering, fulfillment, payment and customer service?
There are no changes. Customers will continue to order and pay direct, products will continue to ship from Premier, and we will continue to handle all customer service needs as well as consumer after-sales support. The biggest change will be in Premier’s ability to fast-track great new high-tech products that strengthen the relationships between people and their pets.
